Mayor
Jim Fleck
Columbia City has
always been my home. I went to school
here, grew up here, and practiced law here. For 38
years I have been married to Kay who is President
of Passages Inc. We have raised our family here
and are proud to call Columbia City our home town. Prior to becoming Mayor I was an attorney and
businessman
and worked with communities all over the U.S. I
worked with
libraries, schools, daycares, rehabilitation
facility and recreational
groups to help achieve success.
My task is to lead Columbia City into a better
future while
preserving the best from our past. I truly believe
Columbia City is a great place to live, work, and
raise our families.

City
Clerk Rosie Coyle

I
am serving my 6th term as City Clerk
Treasurer and have worked for the
City since 1965. I understand the
need to have knowledge of the
workings of the City and the
functions related
to this position. I love working
with people, which is a must in this
capacity. The Clerk Treasurer is
responsible for the millions of
dollars of funds generated through
the Civil City
and the Utility
Departments, which means you need to
be trustworthy and loyal to the
job. I enjoy the position and will
continue to serve the citizens to
the best of my ability.
I am the daughter of
the late Joe & Mary Parent. My
husband Larry and I have 3 children
Chad Coyle (deceased), Todd (Carmen)
Coyle, and Kimberly Jones, and have
four grandchildren. My church
affiliation is St. Paul of the
Cross.
I am a designated
Indiana Accredited Municipal Clerk,
which I earned from attending
classes from Ball State University
and I am close to completing my
credit hours needed to earn my
International Certified Municipal
Clerks Award. I have served as
District Director for the Indiana
Association of Clerks and Clerk
Treasurers, currently serving as an
Executive Director of the Clerk’s
League for Third Class Cities, have
served on the Columbia City/Whitley
County Joint Planning Board and I am
a current member of Komputrol’s User
Advisory Board, which is the City’s
Utilities Software Company.

Councilman Walt Crowder

I’m
starting my second term as Northeast
City Councilman. In the past 4
years. I’ve held the position as
Council President and a
representative for the City on the
Solid Waste Board. This year I’ve
been elected as Council President
and a member of Board of Works. I
enjoyed representing the Northeast
District by taking your ideas and
concerns to our City Council and
Mayor.
Being your
Councilman, I will continue to focus
on managing cost, keeping a balanced
budget, in addition keep using
technology to enhance City services
and communication. I feel we need to
be proactive in our leadership to
address any upcoming decisions,
basing our decisions on facts and
common
sense.
I enjoy being
involved, working with people who
care about Columbia City and its
continuous growth. We are faced with
major decisions coming up the next
four years. Columbia City’s biggest
challenge is to upgrade its
infrastructure to separate
wastewater and rain water into
separate drainage systems, or look
at other solutions to meet the
State’s requirements.
This City Council, Board
of Works, Department
Superintendents, City Treasurer and
Mayor have started that process and
we are ready for that challenge.

Councilman Roger
Seymoure

I am
very pleased to be serving the
citizens of Columbia City on the
City Council as the representative
from the Southwest District.
My
wife Connie and I have made our home
in the community for the last 29
years. Our two children are
graduates of Columbia City High
School and Ball State University.
My wife is a retired teacher from
Columbia City High School and I
retired from Verizon where I served
in various management positions in
accounting.
In
the future we will be faced with
many decisions regarding our city.
Maintaining and enhancing our
infrastructure, attracting new
businesses to our community and
controlling the cost of our services
will be a few of the issues we will
face. With a background in
accounting, I will work to provide
the best value for our tax dollar to
our community when making these
decisions.
I look forward to
hearing from citizens with new ideas
for our community. Your input will
be greatly appreciated. Together we
can make Columbia City an even
better place to live and raise our
families.
